Lisa Cali Ward - Class of 1988

Lisa Cali Ward was a tremendous student athlete. She was one of the first ninth grade students to run varsity track for West Carrollton High School. In 1984, ninth grade students were at the Junior High, so they did not participate in varsity sports at the High School. Lisa was one of three girls able to letter four years in track because of starting in ninth grade. She earned multiple awards each year in track.

Freshman Year
o MML League Champion - 200 meter
o MML 2nd Place - 100 meter

Sophomore Year
o MML League Champion - 200 meter
o MML 2nd Place 4x400

Junior Year
o MML League Champion - 4x100 and 200 meter and 300 meter hurdles
o MML 2nd Place - 100 meter

Senior Year
o WOL 2nd Place - 300 meter hurdles & 200 meter
o 4th District Regional Quarter Finals - 4th Place in 300 meter hurdles

Records Lisa still holds:
o 100 meter - 12.7 seconds (1987)
o 200 meter - 26.5 seconds (1988) (shares record with M. Ford)
o 300 meter hurdles - 45-9 seconds (1988)
o 400 meter relay - 51.0 seconds (1987) Kim Kobes, Staci Hanayik, Angie Casper, Lisa Cali Ward

In addition to track, Lisa also played soccer for 3 years. She was the captain of the team her Junior and Senior years. As an athlete Lisa shined, but she started her hard work in the classroom. She was in the National Honors Society, band, indoor track, student athletic trainer, and many other extracurricular activities. She was recognized as the Senior Female Athlete of the Year for the High School and Varsity Club.

Her academic and athletic achievements set her up to attend Wilmington College where she played soccer and ran track. After undergraduate school at Wilmington College, Lisa attended Indiana University where she earned her M.S. in Kinesiology. She became a Physicians Assistant in 1998. She spent 15 years in Family Practice. Currently Lisa Cali Ward is a Lead Physicians Assistant at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital in Endocrinology and Oncology. Lisa is published in medical texts and speaks at various medical societies. Lisa is also a five year breast cancer survivor! Lisa is married to Ty Ward who is also a Physicians Assistant. They have two children, Olivia and Zach.
