After two seasons without a true home field, the West Carrollton Pirates varsity baseball team is finally planning on returning to campus. With the completion of the new 7–12 building, a brand-new baseball field has been constructed on the south end of the campus — and it marks the beginning of a new chapter for Pirate baseball. The new field is scheduled to be completed by the spring season.

Coach Marc Hill, a West Carrollton alumnus from the Class of 1999 and current varsity baseball coach, wanted to make sure that the legacy of past players wasn’t forgotten. To honor the senior players from the past two seasons — including those who missed their senior year due to the COVID-19 pandemic — Coach Hill had them sign a baseball that was buried beneath home plate of the new field.

“These players may not have had the chance to play on campus, but their names are now literally part of the foundation of the future,” said Coach Hill. “It’s a way to connect the past to the present and recognize their role in the program’s history.”

During construction, the Pirates played their home games at Wax Park in Moraine and Action Sports in Dayton. Now, with the new facility complete, the team is ready to make history on home field once again. The varsity baseball team will have a pregame field dedication ceremony tentatively scheduled for March 28th at their first home game on the new field.

Students interested in joining the first season on the new field should contact Coach Hill at baseball@wcsd.k12.oh.us for preseason workout information.

A special thank-you goes to Shook Construction and Levin Porter Architects for helping make the new field a reality.
