West Carrollton High School is proud to announce the appointment of Jerel Freeman as the new head coach of the Pirates football program. Coach Freeman brings a wealth of experience, a passion for leadership, and a proven track record of success both on and off the field.
A Leader on and off the Field
Coach Freeman is widely recognized for his exceptional leadership skills. His philosophy centers on fostering a culture of accountability, perseverance, and teamwork. He believes in developing student-athletes not only as players but as responsible and driven individuals prepared for life beyond the field.
Playing Experience that Inspires
As a former wide receiver at Ohio Northern University, Coach Freeman understands the game from the player's perspective. His playing career instilled in him the discipline, grit, and strategic thinking that he now instills in his players. His experience competing at the college level has given him a deep understanding of what it takes to achieve success.
Proven Coaching Expertise
With 19 years of coaching experience, Coach Freeman has a reputation for turning potential into performance. Before joining West Carrollton High School, he served as the wide receiver’s coach at Trotwood-Madison High School, where he won two state championships in football. Before coaching at Trotwood, Coach Freeman was the varsity football coach at Jefferson High School. In addition to coaching football, Coach Freeman was named GWOC South Division Coach of the Year three times for his time coaching track and field.

Coach Freeman places a strong emphasis on relationship-building with students, parents, and the broader community. He understands that trust and open communication are essential to a thriving football program. As a restorative justice coach at WCHS, Coach Freeman shows he is committed to student development beyond athletics, as he aims to support each student’s academic, social, and emotional growth.
